After More than a Century, the GCGA has elected its first female President

The Greater Cincinnati Golf Association is extremely excited to announce Mrs. Lesli Hopping as its newly elected President. Lesli has been involved in golf throughout the years in various capacities. She has coached high school golf, participated in local and USGA tournaments, served on multiple golf committees including Greater Cincinnati Women’s Golf Association and the First Tee of Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky and continues to volunteer at the local club level. Lesli has served the GCGA Board since 2012 on Women’s Golf Committee and member of the Executive Committee. She also volunteers at GCGA tournaments and is on the GCGA Course Rating team. She and her husband, Mike, are members of both Kenwood Country Club and Long Boat Key Club in Florida and enjoy golfing year-round. Golf does pulse through her veins! How does Lesli envision the future of golf? She would like to see the game take a new approach with the new or beginner players by providing a welcoming on-course environment and offering modified formats to bring new players and those with time constraints to participate. Another area she is excited about is junior golf. Lesli sees it as a vital ingredient to the growth of the game. She states that even though the GCGA’s 1905 Junior Tour has been steadily growing over the years, she believes that to continue this expansion we need to explore different avenues to introduce more juniors to golf to ensure the sustainability of our organization and the game of golf.We welcome Lesli and look forward to her tenure as president.

Hello GCGA membership

First let me say how proud I am to become the first female president of this storied organization with a rich history, and second, thanks to the delegates and board members for their confidence. I have served on the board since 2012 and been a part of an integral transformation that has led us to where we are today. The GCGA is a strong, diverse, and healthy golf association poised for continued growth and supported by a phenomenal staff of highly dedicated professionals. I love this game and have been involved on different levels for some time now. When my husband Mike and I were dating he once asked me: “what would you do every day if you weren’t working?”. My answer was, “I’d play golf”. I think he thought I was kidding. I look forward to serving the association and its members over the following year. Play well and have fun!
